Stephen Strasburg Rookie Cards

June 28, 2010-Stephen Strasburg had his biggest test tonight facing the hot Atlanta Braves on national TV (ESPN). The kid looked shaky out there in the early innings and the Braves hits some loud outs off of him. But he did settle in and struck out 7 batters through 6 1/3 innings. He got NO help from his offense or defense.

The Nationals are losing 5-0 in the top of the 9th as I type this. Strasburg was in trouble in the bottom of the 7th. With runners on first and second base, he got a "Taylor-Made" double play ball hit to the shortstop Ian Desmond. Desmond booted the ball and got nobody out. Now the bases were loaded and Strasburg got a fly ball that was caught and should have been the third out of the inning with no runs scoring had Desmond made the double play.

The Braves ended up scoring 5 runs in the seventh and the game just ended with the Braves winning by a score of 5-0. Overall, Stephen Strasburg pitched very well but was let down by his teammates. He took the loss in this game and is now 2-2. Strasburg now has 48 strikeouts in 5 career starts with only 7 walks. He has pitched a total of 31.2 innings and has an ERA of 2.27. Not bad for a 21 year old rookie.

Baseball fans everywhere were really looking forward to this game because it was supposed to feature Stephen Strasburg vs. fellow rookie Jason Heyward of the Atlanta Braves. But unfortunately Heyward is out with an injured thumb and did not play. But those two will have many opportunites to face-off because they are in the same division and will play each other a ton.

May 31, 2010-It was just reported on ESPN today that Stephen Strasburg will make his Major League debut on June 8, 2010 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

May 27, 2010-The day is coming soon! Of course I'm talking about the Major League debut of Stephen Strasburg, the super pitching prospect of the Washington Nationals. I just heard today on ESPN's SportsCenter that it looks like Strasburg's MLB debut will happen around June 8th or 9th. Of course that can change as the Nationals keep us in suspense.

What is no suspense is the fact that Stephen Strasburg continues to dominate in the Minor Leagues. He has pitched for two affiliates of the Nationals. First, he started with the Class AA Harrisburg Senators, then got promoted to Triple A with the Syracuse Chiefs.

And his numbers are staggering. Strasburg has pitched a combined 45.1 innings and has an ERA of 0.99. He also has 54 strikeouts and a record of 6-1. He is ready to take it to the next level and baseball card collectors can't wait to see how this kid does in DC. Stephen Strasburg rookie cards are on fire on eBay and they will surely continue to climb. The 2010 Bowman baseball boxes are selling like hot cakes right now as well.

As a sports card collector myself, I am on the hunt for 2010 Bowman Blaster boxes. I went down to ShopKo today to check if they had got any in yet, but they didn't have any in stock. When they do get them, they will be flying off the shelves. I will check again tomorrow. Be sure to check your local Wal-Mart, Target or K-mart stores for these 2010 Bowman blaster boxes.

April 24, 2010-Stephen Strasburg rookie cards could be heating up as it looks like he will be getting the call up to the Major Leagues in about 4 weeks from now. The Washington Nationals selected the big right-hander with their #1 pick in the 2009 MLB draft out of San Diego State. And he has not disappointed as he has pitched lights out in the Minor Leagues.

Stephen Strasburg started this young 2010 baseball season with the class AAA Harrisburg Senators. The 6'4", 220 pound flame thrower has put up some impressive numbers in his brief professional baseball career. At the time of this writing, Stephen Strasburg has pitched a total of 12.1 innings and is 2-0 with a 0.73 ERA. And he has 17 strikeouts!

So it is obviuosly apparent that this big kid is ready for the Majors. Baseball fans and Nationals' fans everywhere are waiting with excitement to see Stephen Strasburg pitching in our nation's capital for the big club.

Also, collectors of Stephen Strasburg rookie cards are getting excirted as they add his first card issues to their baseball card collections. After checking eBay, there are not too many Strasburg rookie cards out there as collectors are holding onto them until he performs in the Majors. But the re were a few of his RC's on eBay and they are not cheap. A few of them have a pretty big "Buy it Now" price tag. For example, there is a 2008 Stephen Strasburg Sweet Spot Glove Auto limited to 32 produced (pictured below) that has a Buy it Now price of $799. And who knows, we could look back at this time next year and realize that was a good deal if Strasburg comes to the Majors and dominates. But it is not easy to shell out almost $800 for a pitcher that has never pitched one inning in the Big leagues yet. Another pricey Stephen Strasburg rookie card on eBay that I spotted was his 2008 Ultimate Collection Auto Patch # to 25 produced. It has a "Buy it Now" price of $549.99, also pictured below. Only time will tell if these prices were a good buy or not. We should know something in about 4 weeks from now when Stephen Strasburg makes his MLB debut with the Washington Nationals. Stay tuned.
